THREE POSITIONS AVAILABLE

What You'll Do: Work at the Central Library in the Security Department to create positive experiences for library customers by preventing the loss of property and collections by enforcing rules and/or ordinances relating to the library. Assist in maintaining a safe and secure environment for library customers and staff. 

You Have: Knowledge of loss prevention, theft and search procedures. Knowledge of laws and City ordinances pertaining to theft, disturbances, assault and vandalism. Knowledge of security equipment and dispatch center. Skill in de-escalation and positive communication. Ability to exercise quick and mature judgment in dealing with possible disruptive, physically dangerous or abusive customers and emergencies. Ability to complete concise and grammatically correct reports. Ability to work with a diverse group of people within a fast paced work environment. Ability to use basic workplace technology including email, internet and automated software. Ability to pass a background check after the offer to hire has been made.

Excellent customer service skills. One-year civilian or military experience in security, safety, loss prevention or law enforcement (related academic training, public relations skills or customer service experience may be considered as a substitute for direct security requirement).

A high school diploma or equivalent.

We Provide: $14.00 - $17.22 per hour starting salary range; $14.00 - $20.44 per hour full salary range.
Although the full salary range for this position is provided, starting salary is typically at or near the range minimum. The City and County of Denver benefit package will be offered.

On-call. The schedule may include day, night or weekend hours.
